Ain't It Great What We're Doin' in Iraq?

Reported by Melanie - October 15, 2004 -

Fox aired five separate segments on Iraq today (October 15, 2004) on Dayside w/Linda Vester.

The first was a live report from Greg Palkot on our stepped up attacks on Fallujah and on recent events there. The second was a live interview conducted by Scott Rutter, US Army (Ret.) with a US military representative on the ground in Iraq on all the progress being made in training an Iraqi army. In conclusion, Rutter said, "Realistic training continues within the Iraqi army. In fact, the mechanized unit set to stand up in the very near future. Lots of momentum for both the coalition as well as the Iraqis."

The third was a live report from Karl Vick, of the Washington Post, on the "foreign fighters" in Iraq.

The fourth was a live Vester interview with Army Major Lance Varney in Iraq on all the "good progress" being made on the 30,000 projects that have been undertaken to rebuild the infrastructure there.

The fifth was an in-studio interview with country music singer Chely Wright, who just returned from her second visit to Iraq and who loved the children there.

COMMENT: Five segments on Iraq in a one hour show is a lot. I guess Fox decided it needed to ratchet up the "happy Iraq" stories (as three of the five were) what with the election just days away.
