Barely a Drop of "Business & Financial"

Reported by Melanie - October 13, 2004 -

This is a list of segments and topics aired today (October 13, 2004) on Fox News' premiere "business and financial" show, Your World w/Neil Cavuto.

1. A Financial Times reporter was interviewed about an article he wrote in which he quotes the German Defense Minister as saying Germany might reconsider sending troops into Iraq if a democratically elected Iraqi government went to the UN requesting aid. The Defense Minister said Kerry's idea of holding an international conference to discuss Iraq's future was a good idea, and the reporter said he thought the Germans were indicating they "wouldn't mind seeing a change, a Kerry move into the White House."

2. A discussion between Cavuto and a Democrat and Republican spinmeister on whether or not the Germans want Kerry to win the election and whether they'd ever send troops to Iraq.

3. A report from Jonathan Hunt that the Oil for Food scandal's French connection may reach as high as Jacque Chirac himself.

4. What do Kerry and Bush each need to do tonight to "close" the election.

5. An interview with Herman Cain of The Free Market Project who says the economy is better under Bush than it was under Clinton and who claims the liberal media slants economic news to make Bush look bad.

6. A round table discussion on tonight's debate and what Kerry and Bush need to do to "connect" with voters.

7. "Fox Stox" during which Cavuto talks about six or seven stocks and what they did today.

8. A report from Orlando Salinas in Florida on the tight flu vaccine situation.

9. An Interview with an author who thinks people should be tough and assertive in a segment titled, "Is your Boss a Sissy?"

10. "Mail Bag" where Cavuto reads emails.

11. "Common Sense," the portion of the show where Cavuto officially states his opinion. Today it was about how the war on terror is the most important election issue.

COMMENT: Some days, like today, I can only squeeze a drop or two of "business and financial" out of this show. "Business and financial" is nothing more than a front for a show which is, like the rest, all about continuing Fox's political activities.
