Reporting melodramatically on Special Report with Brit Hume today, 10/11, fiction writer Carl Cameron said John Kerry, in NM, used energy policy "to cast himself as a populist servant of the little guy, and George Bush as a champion of powerful special interests."
"With three weeks before the election, Kerry is serving up populist red meat, not to say class warfare, (comment: you just said it!) hoping to drive a wedge between the president and average Americans." (Comment: you could drive a $100,000.00, fully tax deductible Hummer between W and average Americans.) Carl pointed out that John Kerry is using Bob Shrum, Democratic strategist, as did Al Gore and compared Kerry's "rich vs. the rest rhetoric" with Al Gore's "they're for the powerful; we're for the people." What Carl fails to mention is that the Bush record clearly shows that Bush is thick as thieves with the corporate powers that rule the rest of us.
If Kerry is elected, the Heinz Kerrys will be the wealthiest first family in history. Carl thinks it is a "bold" assessment to compare this JFK with FDR and the first JFK, both rich men who were known as champions of the average guy.
Comment: In one short segment Cameron was able to compare John Kerry to the "loser" Al Gore and to point out his extreme wealth and assumed inability to relate to ordinary people. It is "bold" to compare John Kerry to compassionate liberals, but fellow multi-millionaire Bush is often portrayed as folksy. (F911 exposed him for the elitist snob that he really is.)
Voters in this election now know Bush and his record, and they understand what Al Gore meant and what Ralph Nader continues to try to confuse - there is a humongous difference between the two candidates.
