Painting a Picture
Reported by Melanie - October 11, 2004 -
Molly Henneberg reported today (October 11, 2004) from the Kerry campaign on Dayside w/Linda Vester, and James Rosen reported from the Bush campaign. Here's how they each opened their reports:
Molly Henneberg, reporting from Santa Fe, New Mexico, opened saying Kerry would begin an upcoming speech by sending his condolences to Christopher Reeve's family, and then she said: "Senator Kerry's expected to criticize President Bush for making the wrong choices, taking America in the wrong direction as far as the energy policy."
James Rosen, reporting from Denver: "President Bush this morning, pouncing on his opponent for remarks that appeared in yesterday's edition of the New York Times Sunday Magazine, calling the senator's statements 'fresh evidence' he fundamentally minunderstands the war on terror."
COMMENT: Think about the difference in the words "criticize" and "pounce." Words paint a picture. Fox wants you to think of Kerry as a criticizer and Bush as a pouncer. Which one would you want as president?
