Hannity Dodges the Tough Parts Again
Reported by Ellen - October 6, 2004 -
Last week, I reported that when the going gets rough, Hannity changes the topic. Last night, he did it again during the post-debate discussion on Hannity & Colmes.
The guest was Democratic Senator Dick Durbin who effectively argued that Senator John Edwards had won the debate against Vice President Dick Cheney. Durbin repeated to Hannity one of Edwards' strongest lines of the night, "The best and longest resume in the world can't guarantee that you won't get us into a war you can't get us out of."
Hannity responded: "I think (Edwards) was beaten on both style and substance but there's no point going into that." (Comment: Why not? Since when has Hannity avoided a fight? Answer: when he might lose. Notice that he changes the subject rather than answer Durbin's/Edwards' contention)
Second example:
Hannity asked Durbin (about the "international coalition" fighting alonside the US in Iraq), "Why do you diminish that contribution?"
Durbin: But why do you diminish the reality that it's American soldiers and American taxpayers that are paying the dearest price?
Hannity, rather than answer, CHANGES THE SUBJECT AGAIN: "But was John Kerry right in 2003... when he said - and he didn't have the courage to stand up to Howard Dean because Howard Dean was taking a strong anti-war position that John Kerry is now taking... when he said Iraq's weapons of mass destruction are a real threat?"
