If Kerry Does it: Bad. If Bush Does it: Good

Reported by Melanie - October 5, 2004 -

Jack Welsh, the former CEO of General Electric, appeared today (October 5, 2004) on Your World w/Neil Cavuto to help spin tonight's vice presidential debate. Welsh's last visit was Thursday, September 30, 2004, the day of the first Kerry - Bush debate, when he appeared to spin that.

Last Thursday, speaking about Kerry's possible performance that evening, Welsh insinuated that Kerry would be faking it if he acted like a "different guy." Here's what he said:

"John Kerry tonight has to not be himself. That's a tough role," Welsh said. Cavuto asked if Welsh was saying that he didn't think Kerry was comfortable in his own shoes and Welsh said, "Well, he's gotta be somebody else tonight to appeal to a large crowd. He's an elitist New Englander," but Bush is just a regular guy.

Today, Welsh and Cavuto discussed what was wrong with Bush's performance in the first debate, and what Bush needs to do in the debate on Friday:

Cavuto: "But, but, Jack. I don't buy it. I mean, somebody's obviously gotta tell him [Bush] this guy's [Kerry] going to come after you. He's going to question everything you've done in the war on terror and the war in Iraq, and you should be loaded for bear."

Welsh: "Should be have been? Absolutely. Was he? No."

Cavuto: "So, you think the president, this go round, let's say Friday night, is gonna be a different guy? Or, I guess you're arguing he better be a different guy?"

Welsh: "Well, I hope he's a different guy. I think he better be."

COMMENT: Watching Fox'll make your head spin.
