FOX "Question of the Day" Another Excuse for Spin
Reported by Ellen - October 5, 2004 -
The most recent Question of the Day (dated October 1), is Kerry vs. Bush: Rate the Debate. While all other polls called Kerry the clear winner (and some, if not most, of the FOX pundits agreed), the selection of letters printed on FOXNews.com leaned pro-Bush.
The letters tally is as follows: Four say Bush won, three say Kerry, two are undecided. But with typical FOX sleight-of-hand, one of the "Kerry won" letters is actually pro-Bush:
"I agree with a bunch of Brits that watched the debate: When they were asked who won the debate they all said Kerry! When asked who will win the election they all said Bush!! Why, Kerry is a competent debater, Bush is a confident LEADER!"
A note at the top of the page says that The Question of the Day is sponsored by Wal-Mart, about which FOXNews.com just happens to have published a favorable article on September 24.
At the bottom of the Question of the Day page, there is this unintentionally hilarious disclaimer: "The views and opinions expressed on this page do not necessarily reflect those of FOX News or its subsidiaries."
Maybe not all, but most!
