Hannity's Karma
Reported by Deborah - October 1, 2004 -
The wheel of karma turned tonight for Hannity, when he was forced to look defeat in the eye since it became clear that Bush was undeniably the loser of last night's debate.10/1/04 9PM
First Bill Bennett came on and was very direct about Kerry's win. Bennett even praised Kerry a few times for his debate performance. Hannity eventually drew him into the obligatory Kerry bashing but the pro Kerry message had already been expressed.
Then Terry Holt and Chad Clanton arrived and Colmes immediatly put Holt on the defensive by asking him what Bush could do better in the next debate. Holt tried to dance away but Colmes was relentless. Colmes said,'Maybe you don't want to talk about it" Holts usual smirk was not evident during this exchange.
Hannity was through with diplomacy at his point and started his nasty routine of attacking sentence fragments.
"Little trained debate boy from Yale who said Jame Carville's talking points right for once."
Hannity, tried all of his attack points like weak defense; voting record; absence from Intell commitee meetings; voting for a nuclear freeze while Reagan faced the "evil empire."
Then he went after Clanton who infuriated Hannity with his winner's confidence.
"I know you have trouble focusing."
"You have bought into this hypnotic inconsistancy but I haven't."
" He was given a script by James Carville and the Clinton guys. Will he be able to bamboozle the American people.
By this point Hannity and Holt seemed frenzied in their Kerry defamation but it had no affect on the confident mesage expressed by Colmes and Clanton. At one point Colmes dealt a harsh blow to Terry Holt when he cautiously but forcefully brought up some of the manipulation of truth by Bush during the debate.
comment: These guys can not be described as gracious losers. They're just digging a deeper hole for themselves with all the weak spin and empty declarations of Bush's success. Anyone who saw the debate last night saw a Bush very unlike the persona the RNC has been creating for years. Bush seemed very weak and unable to control his emotions. He was twitching with anger and his nervous tics could be a symptom of a serious problem. I have seen the same sort of tics on people taking anti psychotic drugs. Even with the sound turned off there would be no doubt about who seemed more Presidential.
