Spining the Spin

Today (September 30, 2004) on Dayside w/Linda Vester, the show was almost entirely devoted to spinning the debates, as it has been most of this week. Today, Vester actually had a segment to spin the spin, titled "After the Debate Prepare for The Spin."
Vester looked convincingly innocent and actually managed to keep a straight face at the opening when she said, "I don't know if it starts as soon as the two candidates start talking, or is it after?"
Vester's guest was Peter Johnson, a paid Fox News employee, also known as a "Fox News Analyst." I thought some of the peripheral parts of this segment were interesting so I report on them here. First, all video clips of politicans shown during the segment were of Democrats, with a brief glimpse of Bush shown in a clip of a debate with Gore in 2000. Most of that clip was video of Gore apologizing for a mistake he made in an earlier debate.

After the Debate Prepare for the Spin
COMMENT: In case the audience missed the point Fox was trying to spin - that Democrats do a lot more spinning than Republicans - Fox was sure to include video of Democrats and macho banners about the Bush campaign's "rapid response effort" called "debate facts," to rebut Kerry's "assertions" in order to help spin Fox's spin on the spin.
