Portrait of Defeat

Reported by Deborah - September 27, 2004 -

Hannity was intent on painting a portrait of defeat for Kerry in the debate and got Dick Morris to help him tonight. As they went over the poll numbers, Morris assured the viewers that Kerry couldn't possibly win the debate.

As Hannity and Morris gleefully discussed the new Gallup and Time polls showing Kerry trailing, the state numbers were flashed underneath showing a solid lead for Kerry in many states. In the majority of states showing Bush ahead, the difference was close enough to call it a tie.

Kerry showed a solid win in the following states: Il, ME, MI, CA, WA, PA
Bush showed a solid win in the following states: MT, CO, KY, NV, WI
Bush and Kerry were tied in the following states: Iowa, FL, WV, NM
These were some of the states flashed on the screen and there was definitely not 50 shown to get a total picture.

The Times and Gallup polls only reflect likely voters and none of the newly registered voters have been polled. In PA alone, there has been an enormous increase in voter registrations especially among the 18 to 24 year olds who are overwhelmingly Democrats. This fact is never mentioned on Fox.

Colmes tried to turn the conversation into some positives for Kerry but Dick Morris had only defeat ahead. "Bush set a trap for Kerry," was one of Morris's comments. Followed by Hannity saying,"The more they see Kerry, the more they don't like him."

comment: This of course, will be the tone we can expect from Fox before the debate. Tell everyone that the election has already been won and Kerry has
no chance to compete with Bush's likability. It was a very partisan display of Republican campaigning which we can expect to see more blatantly in the weeks to come. Fox will be calling the election before voting takes place.
