Stolen Valor
Reported by Deborah - September 25, 2004 -
John O'Neill was probably busy tonight, so Hannity invited BJ Burkett, to plug his book, "Stolen Valor" which sounds like a total rehash of the swifty report. It didn't really work out the way Hannity planned. 9/24/04
Hannity warmed up the audience for Burkett with his well worn list of Kerry's foul misdeeds in Vietnam. Then he said with malice, " I have a video, another Dick Cavett show. Kerry is describing burning a village to the ground."
Burkett added that no swift boats ever committed crimes other then the time that John Kerry admitted to.
Hannity got muddier saying," If Americans saw the village that Kerry burned...Remember how outraged Americans were seeing an Iraqi with underwear on his head."
Colmes appeared and he was angry confronting Burkett who insisted that Kerry connived to get out of Vietnam early with 2 purple hearts for self inflicted wounds. When Colmes asked, Are you suggesting that he did it?", Burkett backed off his statement saying." He screwed up and hurt himself."
By this time Burkett was stumbling enough to damage his credibulity, Then Colmes hit with the knock out punch.
" The supporting documents for those medals are very specific. Are you saying the Navy lied?"
Burkett was finished and he tried to save some face with far fetched theories about Kerry's medals.Hannity gave Burkett his standard dismissal line and ended the segment.
Comment: Hannity has been referencing that Dick Cavett tape for many months. The first quote he used from Cavett was eliminated because it was taken out of context. Hannity avoids showing any documents or clips that he's mentioned because he knows the truth will emerge. Instead he keeps spouting all his Kerry distortions whenever possible. Hannity is used to saying anything he wants without interference but those days are over.
