Leaving No Kerry Bashing Behind

Reported by Ellen - September 20, 2004 -

Sunday night's Fox special "Breaking Point" was about the UN Oil-for-Food program but once again Fox managed to sneak in a Kerry bash at the beginning.

David Asmun asked at the beginning, "As the Death Toll (in Iraq) rises, Americans are now asking, 'Can the UN helps us now?'"

Bush gives a "qualified yes" but Kerry is "far more emphatic." Kerry is seen saying that one of Bush's "gravest mistakes was dissing the UN in the first place... If I am president, the United Nations will be seen as the asset that it is, and not a liability."

Then Fox takes off on a round-the-world attack on the UN. I'd like to go into more of the details of this program later but suffice it to say it has nothing to do with Kerry. So including his remarks just before lift-off can only be a not-so-indirect attempt to make him look bad both for dissing Bush and praising the UN.

Which makes the timing of this special even more suspect given that it airs the day after a U.S. Report Finds No WMD in Iraq.
