Making Bush's Approval Rating Look Better
Reported by Ellen - September 14, 2004 -
Once again Fox spins its own poll numbers by putting the best-for-Bush face on his approval ratings.
Bush's current approval rating, according to the poll is 49%. That much is made clear. That fact is followed by Bush's highest approval number which is from 2001 which is in turn followed by the lowest which is from last month. You have to click to another page to discover that Bush's approval rating has been above 50% only once since February 4-5, 2004.
And many thanks to Gabby Hayes, our regular poster, for pointing out that Fox switched to polling LIKELY voters from REGISTERED voters after Bush fell to his 44% low 5 weeks ago.
At the bottom of the main page, Fox touts in bold colors Bush's overall First-Term Average to Date approval rating of 63%. Some would point out that the data shows a steady decline since 2002 and a 20% decline since Bush took office. Evidently, Fox prefers not to.
