It Was The Hurricanes Stupid

Your World w/Neil Cavuto continued the Fox drone about Hurricane Ivan today (September 13, 2004), but from a business angle, of course. Ivan was front and center for the first twenty minutes of the show.
The first of four segments was about which companies might lose and which might gain. Second came the daily round table discussion, today on Ivan's potential affect on business, the economy and the election. Then a segment on Ivan and oil prices, oil production and oil supplies. And, finally, a "more pain at the pump" segment on whether or not Ivan will affect gas prices.
COMMENT: I sense Fox is laying the groundwork to blame a wide array of economic troubles on the hurricanes. In the event we begin experiencing higher gas prices, higher home heating costs or stagnant or declining economic trends, Fox can cover for Bush, probably at least until November 2, by asserting that things would be different if it weren't for those darn hurricanes.
