The Bottomless Pit
Reported by Eleanor - September 3, 2004 -
Fox & Friends (Sept. 3, 7:00 a.m.) interviewed Charles Grassley and Pat Buchanan to gush over the republican convention.
Grassley said Bush hit a home run, but we wait for the polls. Every economic indicator is positive. He's showing us light at the end of the tunnel in Iraq. Brian Kilmeade mentioned that the job numbers are coming out, and Grassley said we inherited a downturn in the economy from Clinton. Every trend is positive.
Pat Buchanan said it was a "spectacular speech." The convention was well run. He predicted a huge bump of 5 - 7 points for Bush after Labor Day. E.D. asked if the attacks will backfire. Buchanan called that "ridiculous." They energized the base. It was a message of toughness and strength in times of trouble. You have to take risks and take down the other fellow. He got in a couple of jabs at Kerry, saying he tried to get a deferment and couldn't, so he enlisted, and the POW's were tortured because of Kerry.
Buchanan ended by calling the war on Iraq a mistake blaming the Neocons, primarily Wolfowitz, and saying those fellows should go after November.
Comment: No one spoke for Kerry in this hour. These guys are merciless. I wonder what kind of "risks" they're willing to take to bring down the other fellow? Lying, character assassination, and misusing the media to present one side are certainly on the list. The end justifies the means is their mantra. How low can they go? It's a bottomless pit.
