Terror Everywhere you Go
Reported by Melanie - September 3, 2004 -
For the most part, Your World w/Neil Cavuto today (September 3, 2004) was about terror: "hard" terror, like terrorists holding kids hostage in a Russian school, and "soft" terror, like hurricanes. Fox even debuted a new FOX NEWS ALERT, this one saying FOX NEWS HURRICANE ALERT.
At the beginning of the show Fox aired a report from Russia. Several minutes in, Bob Beckel and Shari Jacobus had a round table discussion with Cavuto, the title being "Terror and Bush," about terror and the election.
A bit later came the new FOX NEWS HURRICANE ALERT with an update on Hurricane Frances. (I'm surprised Fox hasn't objected to the hurricane being named FRANCEs.)
Then, at 4:32 p.m. ET, Brian Gallagher, CEO of United Way, talked about preparations being made in Florida. Gallagher described how Floridians came together so magnificently after Hurricane Charley, which he said was "uniquely American." (Unfortunately, Cavuto didn't challenge that "ugly American" like statement.)
Then to a "small business owner" (trying to add that financial-show angle) in Florida, on her hurricane preparations. Then to Fox reporter Degan McDowell on the economic affect of hurricanes on the US and on the state of Florida.
Then at 4:39 to "Fox Stox," which included information on how Home Depot's stock did today (they provide plywood, flashlights, etc., for those preparing to weather the storm) and Delta Airlines (they had to cancel flights).
Then to a round table discussion with four guests on the potential impact of Hurricane Frances on Florida's and the nation's economy.
Wraping it all up was the last piece, Cavuto's analysis or "Common Sense" segment, which was about terror - "it's not the economy stupid," he said, it's terrorism.
COMMENT: I'm so glad it's Friday!
