Fading Star Power behind the GOP

Reported by Chrish - September 1, 2004 -

Shepard Smith interviewed Bo Derek (3:07 edt) on Studio B August 30 on the convention floor. Ms. Derek promoted the causes she is associated with and reminisced with Shepard about her introduction of her CA assemblyman at the 2000 GOP convention (in Spanish! Very impressive to SS.)

Bo "really believe(s) in what (GW) is doing" though "it breaks her heart to hear of the casualties everyday. In the long run this is the only way to break the cycle of hatred." 'But we can't keep throwing money at those countries; we always have.' She finished her thoughts with "I can't believe Al Queda targets us when honestly I believe if it weren't for America it would be part of the Soviet Union right now."

Comments: Kudoes to Shep Smith for keeping a straight face and respectful manner as he terminated the interview.
His comment about Bo's speaking in a foreign language took me back to THK's greetings in five languages - was that very very very very very impressive?
Democrats and media organizations have been lashed for featuring celebrities and stars and allowing them to air their opinions and views - Natalie Maines, Linda Ronstadt, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins spring to mind. One would think the GOP convention would steer clear of opinionated celebrities, especially ones who don't quite know what they're talking about.
