Colmes at the Convention Night 2: More Republicans, Fewer Democrats

Reported by Ellen - September 1, 2004 -

Night 2 was less balanced than Night 1. If the trend continues, tomorrow night will be all Republican.

First hour guest list: Rod Paige (current Secretary of Education) Newt Gingrich, Pat Buchanan, Morton Blackwell (the man who distributed the band-aids with the purple hearts on them at the convention).

Second hour guest list: A conservative talk show host (sorry, didn't catch name), Greg Meeks, Democrat Congressman (Alan actually said apologetically that he had tried to get a Republican on in order to be fair and balanced but couldn't!), someone from the African-American Leadership Council (a Bush supporter).

Tally: five Bush supporters plus Pat Buchanan, who said he'd probably vote for Bush = six conservatives.
One Democrat who would have been unable to appear without a "balancing" Republican had Fox been able to find one.

Once again, Colmes did an excellent job of articulating the Democratic and liberal point of view but it's not fair to liberal Democrats to have him as almost our only spokesperson, especially given the plethora of opposing views on Fox. This would be less objectionable had there been a slew of Democrats on when Colmes was at the Democratic convention, but that was not the case.

Shame on you, Fox!
