Reported by Judy - August 30, 2004 -

It was one of those times when pictures were worth a thousand words. Fox News Live today (August 30) had, from the Bush point-of-view, an unfortunate juxtaposition of audio and video.

Fox News' national correspondent Catherine Herridge reported on Democratic Vice Presidential nominee John Edwards' criticism of Bush for failing to plan for a post-war Iraq. Fox played a brief clip of Edwards responding to Bush's statement that Iraq was "a catastrophic success."

Then Herridge said Edwards was turning into an "attack dog" for the Democrats by criticizing Bush's policies. She said, "It what appears to be an attempt to blunt Republican claims that the president has been a strong and steadfast leader in Iraq, Edwards will say that the situation there is a 'mess' ... "

As Herridge spoke, the screen showed a picture of an oil pipeline ablaze in Iraq. Not quite what the producer ordered.
