How Much is This Campaign Contribution Worth?
Reported by Melanie - August 30, 2004 -
Your World w/Neil Cavuto today (August 30, 2004) didn't even pretend to be "fair and balanced." It was an unabashed, shameless, in your face, hour long, pro-Bush campaign advertisement.
It began with Martha MacCallum on the floor of Madison Square Garden touting tonight's speech by John McCain, with an explanation that Bush's re-election really comes down to the swing voter and that John McCain will appeal to those people.
Then to Gary Bauer and Democrat Ed Koch (introduced by Cavuto as being "arguably as liberal as they come," so maybe he was supposed to be the lone "fair and balanced" guest even though he's fervently pro-Bush), both praising Bush in response to the segment title: "Why Bush?" Then on to Josh Bolton, Director of the Office of Management and Budget on the supposedly improving economy.
Then to Democrat Don King to talk about why he's for Bush; then to Robert Bennett, Chair of the Ohio Republican Party on how Bush's standing looks in Ohio and his confidence in a "big win" in November. Then to Ashlee Hasselman, the youngest RNC delegate and why she's for Bush; and to James Degeorgia of the 21st Century Investor, a Republican whose number crunching, he's sorry to say, predicts a Kerry win.
Then Michelle Gerard, Terry Keenan, Joe Battipaglia, Charles Payne, Stuart Varney and Cavuto discussing the election - the consensus being that Wall Street wants Bush to win and he probably will; then the "Fox Stox" segment during which Cavuto reported on a poll whose results showed more people would rather have Bush walk their dog than Kerry, and in which respondents said that if Bush were a dog he'd be either a Laborador Retriever or a Rottweiler and Kerry'd be a Lab or a Poodle.
Then Carl Cameron in Nantucket on John Kerry and John Edwards' plans for the week and finally to George Schlatter, Creater and Producer of Laugh-in on why Hollywood doesn't like Bush and why Republicans don't care (as the names of ten celebrity Bush supporters appeared in banners at the bottom of the screen).
Finally, letters and the "Common Sense" segment (about how protesters aren't what's really happening in New York, the business of the RNC is).
COMMENT: Now, you tell me this isn't about a million dollars worth of campaign air time for the Bush/Cheney camp. They didn't even pretend to be "fair and balanced" today. They even dropped the two news segments - took too much time away from the message, I guess. Someone call the FEC!
