Hannity's Bliss
Reported by Deborah - August 30, 2004 -
Hannity had the Big Boys with him for opening night and the message was delivered perfectly. Andrew Card, Rudy Guiliani, Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott filled the first 30 minutes of Hannity&Colmes. Hannity asked the same questions to all of them and they delivered the same answers. 8/30/04 9:PM ET
Card was by far the smoothest, since he created the message. In fact, he didn't need Hannity at all. The polls are up because the momentum is building, not because of the Swift Boat Ad, which Kerry invited himself and those pesky 527's are the problem. The buzz phrases were repeated seamlessly into every sentence such as tough decisions; never wavers; strong leadership ; respects life above all.
Guiliani was by far the most nauseating. The worship factor was equal to Hannity's and after the first minute, Rudy started to sound like an infomercial .
Of course, Gingrich was the meanest and his pat answers had an added bite to them. He even threw in some cutting ad libs. "There's a gap between Kerry's words and reality." "George Soros wants to legalize herion."
Finally, Trent Lott, was just happy to be invited. By this time, Hannity was so intoxicated that he had the Swiftee Gang victimized saying "There's a systematic effort to smear the SBVT." He and Lott trashed Kerry's career, claiming he never did anything and wondering what he stood for? Lott said, "They don't know him."
Colmes got to ask a few questions from his position, of the banished, several floor up. There was no way to break the Republican aura of righteous perfection. Tonight it was a titanium shield.
