ABC Loves F$$tball, Not the RNC

Reported by Melanie - August 30, 2004 -

I monitored ABC News' coverage of the RNC tonight. It seems that Monday Night Football brings in more money and garners higher ratings than political conventions as that's what they covered.

Aside from a very short news break at 9:38 p.m. ET, ABC was all football tonight.

During the news break, Peter Jennings reported that most RNC delegates have had a "very good encounter" with the citizens of NYC, though there was one small "dust-up." Jennings said that Bush still has a "pretty low" overall rating, and Al Michaels asked what the "thrust" of Bush's Thursday night speech might be. Jennings said it'll be a celebration of Bush's successes thus far and that Bush will let us in on his plans for the next four years which have been "rather slow in coming."

After that: Wanna Have Some Football?!
