BUSH in 1998: Something is going to happen
Reported by Marie Therese - August 29, 2004 -
At 3:20 PM EDT FOX News Live carried a reference to the following quote by George Bush made, according to FOX guest, Stephen Mansfield, author of "The Faith of George W. Bush", approximately 3 years before 9/11:
"Bush said to James Robinson: 'I feel like God wants me to run for President. I can't explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. Something is going to happen... I know it won't be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it.'
In another incident, Mansfield recounts how, on Palm Sunday last year, Bush was flying back from El Salvador aboard the presidential jet Air Force One and seemed to be destined to miss church.
However, knowing that Bush hated to miss a service, some officials suggested they worship in the air. Bush agreed, and soon 40 officials were crammed into the plane's conference room. The service was led by National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, while the lesson was read by close Bush aide Karen Hughes. (end of excerpt)
For the rest of the article go to Bush says God chose him to lead his nation.
Added at 5:05 PM EDT 8/29/04, further quotes from the interview:
MANSFIELD: "There's no question he had a sense - I've been studying the American Presidency for twenty years - I've never heard of an American President having that spiritual sense in advance of taking office of what was going to happen while he was in office. So the President does feel a strong sense of calling and he does believe that God has called him to deal with the very crises he's dealing with now."
DARI ALEXANDER: "Have we ever seen a President be so public about his spirituality...?
MANSFIELD: "We've had many, many Presidents who've talked about faith. The difference with Bush is he wants to apply his faith. Jimmy Carter was a man who clearly talked about being born again, was a religious man, but he didn't believe he had a mandate to apply his faith like George Bush does. We probably haven't had in a hundred to a hundred and fifty years a President who was not only personally born again, but wanted to bring a biblical world view to what he did in office."
Just a reminder: The evangelism George Bush subscribes to is based on the premise of "The Rapture". When the Jews return to Israel, so their beliefs go, Jesus will return again to separate the chaff from the wheat, the believers from the non-believers. The believers will experience the rapture of the beauty of heaven; non-believers (unconverted Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, non-believing Christians, athiests, agnostics, wiccans, American Indians, Shintoists et al) will be cast into the fiery pits of hell for ever and ever, amen. praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
I find it very frightening that our President is someone who believes that the perfect manifestation of God's love will be the total destruction of a large chunk of the human population. Doesn't give me a lot of confidence in his ability to separate fantasy from reality.
