Fear For the Sick and the Aged

Reported by Eleanor - August 27, 2004 -

Studio B with John Gibson (Aug. 27, 3:00 p.m.) covered two short stories that instill fear in the hearts of old people and sick people.

The first story was that al Qaeda might try to attack veteran's hospitals. Suspicious activities around these hospitals indicate possible reconnaissance. No credible intelligence suggests a specific threat.

The second story was about a statement by Allan Greenspan that Social Security benefits will be cut if Congress doesn't act. We might have to move up the retirement age or some other measure. If we delay, the cuts could be abrupt and painful.

Comment: If people could vote on whether to protect Social Security funds by going back to Clinton's taxes, and put Social Security funds into Al Gore's "lock box," I'm convinced the vast majority would do it. I'm also convinced that Bush's plan is to "privatize" the funds by putting them into the stock market, so we can "own" something.
