The Spin Continues

Reported by Eleanor - August 26, 2004 -

The Big Story with John Gibson (Aug. 26, 5:00 p.m.) spent 17 minutes on the smear vet story. The first 12 minutes were on the soft money issue, concerning Bush going to court with John McCain, that has been reported all day.

The additional five minutes were on "bestowing" versus "earning" medals, especially purple hearts. It's "routine" to be hurt, according to Col. Ronald Ray. People sign up for a year; and Ray indicated that "leaving early is a disgrace."

Comment: Another thing I noted during this program is that on three different occasions, as they went to a break, for a few seconds an email was shown on the screen that supported the smear vet side of the story. The email stayed on the screen just long enough to read what it said.
