A Fortress Alone

Reported by Melanie - August 26, 2004 -

Two weekdays (not to mention ten) before the start of the Democratic National Convention in Boston in mid-July, Fox News repeatedly aired segments about how traffic in Boston was going to be a mess; about how much the convention was costing the city; about how much the convention was costing the taxpayers; about how much more it was costing than originally thought; about how much money local business could lose because residents were leaving town; about how once Boston courted the DNC, but as the convention approached citizens there were wishing it would just go away, etc.

Today is two weekdays before the start of the Republican National Convention in New York City. While we're seeing segments on Fox about security and other issues, there's an absence of blanket, bad-news press about the poor citizens of New York City being put out because of the invasion of those uppity Republicans like we heard about the invasion of Boston by those uppity Democrats.
