The Big Story with John Gibson (Aug. 25, 5:00 p.m.) spent about 18 minutes, or about 1/3 of the program, on the smear vet story. It was a rehash of what Fox has been doing all day, with some additional emphasis on free speech for the smear vets. One comment stood out in the interview that included Jacques Degraff, a democratic strategist. In response to a question about why Kerry would want to keep this issue alive, when it's time to quit. Degraff said, "After you throw mud, (and it sticks) let's keep right on fighting." (Now we'll see who comes out the dirtiest.)
