Fact Check.org Rates SBVT Ad

Jackson Brooks, representing Fact Check.org, evaluated the latest SBVT Ad which claims that Kerry accused the Vietnam Vets of committing war crimes. Brooks explained that he was part of the non partisan Annenberg organization but his evaluation, though carefully worded, criticized the ad. 8/25/04 2:41PM ET
Jackson Brooks stated that there is missing context leading to distortion in the first part of the ad. Kerry is made to appear as if he is making the accusations against the soldiers but in fact, he is quoting what they said about themselves during the
Winter Soldier investigation held in Detroit.
Brooks also indicated that the ad suggests that Kerry was making false accusations about what happened in Vietnam. However, there is extensive documentation proving that Kerry was telling the truth about what happened making the second part of the ad misleading.
