Unbelievable

Reported by Eleanor - August 23, 2004 -

Special Report with Brit Hume (Aug. 23, 6:00 p.m.), believe it or not , spent about 35 minutes on the swift boat story. The details offer nothing new, but the fact that they did this again is amazing.

Hume, Jim Angle, Major Garrett, and Carl Cameron spent the first ten minutes on this story. Then at 6:20, Glenn Kessler, who conducts online surveys, spent another ten minutes on an online survey of how much Kerry has been hurt by the story. He focused his assessment on independents and concluded that Kerry lost 27% of support from independents. The only pro-Kerry part of this report was that the second swift boat ad hurt Bush "a little."

At 6:40, the panel of Hume, Kondracke, Barnes and Connolly covered the ground that had already been covered for another 15 minutes!

Comment: I wonder if they can keep this up for ten more weeks? If history is any indication, they can. Remember Monica? That lasted until it resulted in an impeachment - almost two years. This will certainly keep anything else from finding its way into the news, which would be very good news for Bush and company, since their record can't stand much scrutiny. I'm appalled that the American people would put up with this. How many times can you tell this kind of story before people start emailing, calling, turning off their televisions or in some way expressing their disgust.
