Hannity and his Princess of Darkness
Reported by Deborah - August 16, 2004 -
When Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter combined energies tonight on Hannity and Colmes, the Prince and Princess of Darkness emerged, attacking Kerry and Democrats with a reckless and furious vengence. If their eyes had turned red and bloody fangs appeared from their sneering mouths, it probably wouldn't have been surprising. 8/16/04 9PM ET
Hannity returned from his weekend with renewed vigor opening the show with an angry attack on Kerry and Tom Harkin, using that spiteful, jeering tone, that is his trademark. When he announced that Ann Coulter would be joining Mike Brown to discuss the new Bush campaign ad,it was clear that he had called in the heavy reinforcements.
The new ad, attacks Kerry for missing 75% of the senate intelligence meetings, painting him as a devious slacker. Sean lost no time jumping on Brown demanding answers. "Is it wrong? Facts are facts." Using his machine gun attack technique, he tried to keep Brown from answering.
Coulter made her entrance with, "He was in Cambodia." Hannity added, "at Christmas." Then Coulter started imitating Hannity, throwing all these confusing allegations about Democrats at Brown and demanding his response. When Brown finally started defending his position, Coulter, poison dripping from her lips, said
"I was defending him. I think he was in Cambodia."
At 9:12PM, it was Colmes' turn and he got in a zinger, citing all the intelligence cuts requested by Cheney after 9/11. You could see Coulter flinch but she simply refused to answer Colmes saying,
" Impressive source- Washington Post. If you agree to stop prosecuting intelligence agencies. FBI had Atta but..." She continued a litany of things Democrats did to hinder the search for terrorists. Yet, she never answered the question.
Hannity and Coulter then banded together in a vile display of partisan rancor.
Hannity wailed that Kerry " did absolutely nothing " in the Senate. Coulter claimed that all he did was walk around the Hill getting people to say "Hello, Senator"
Then she exploded with," I'm not blaming Democrats for 9/11. I'm blaming them for 9/11 , the Cole, the Embassy bombing ....."
When Brown tried to speak, Hannity yelled, "Mike Mike Mike, Please don't lie to this
audience!"
Right now, Hannity and Coulter are probably congratulating each other and the big boys at Fox, might send them a special memo, praising their performance. The fact that Fox encourages this behavior and condemns journalistic integrity, is a frightening reality.
