Terror of the Day

Fox & Friends (Aug. 11, 7:00 a.m.) gave us the terror of the day news as well as an interview of John O'Neill, author of Unfit for Command.
This program started each 30 minute segment with a list of all the current terror news - lest we forget:
- The arrest in Charlotte, NC with the video taping of six cities.
- The computer disks with information about potential assassination attempts on major political figures to disrupt our election and our economy.
- Potential use of women who might get through security easier.
- Truck bombs, car bombs, helicopters, etc.
- The Albany arrest with indications of money sent to Iraq and Greece.
- The Las Vegas threat where al Qaeda cased hotels and casinos, adding that there is no "imminent threat" to Las Vegas
John O'Neill was given time to promote his charges against Kerry in detail, saying among other things that Kerry used his purple hearts to go home, and indicating that the wounds were self-inflicted. Comments are made that O'Neil has been "dogging" Kerry for over 30 years; O'Neill has "quite a book, but they call you a liar," and "wish we had much more time." O'Neill said he's "making no money off the book."
Comment: It's so clear what's happening here. The American people are being kept in perpetual fear - that will last until the election - with every day that we don't have an attack being a day that Bush is "keeping us safe." Meanwhile, the media continues to give air time to people who are trashing the candidate who served his country in battle, while taking the attention off the candidate who didn't.
The republicans have mastered the art of upside down and backwards politics. They have the strength of the media driving the issues they choose, with their version of events, into our living rooms, but they don't have logic and history on their side. Nor do they have the economic issues, or the life and death issues having huge effects on people's lives, that they can cite as "mission accomplished." They can't and won't talk about real issues that are hurting people. That is their big weakness, and it will bring them down.
