Geraldo And The Ladies

Geraldo left the battlefield tonight to lead a panel discussion on First Ladies but guess which ladies got trashed? The panel of Fox's favorites, Kellyann Conway, Monica Crowley, Susan Estrich and Eleanor Clift, were certainly dishin the dirt, but the nasty stuff came from the Republicans and that includes Geraldo.

Geraldo started the segment with a short film clip of recent First Ladies with brief descriptions from Geraldo. Nancy Reagan was ideal and Barbara Bush the beloved "earth mother" He described Hillary Clinton as " a First Lady who advocated policy. You either hated her or loved her." Then for Laura Bush, Geraldo said,"Lovely Laura was Hillary's opposite. She preferred to devote herself to the twins but is now involved with her girls in her husband"s campaign."
The mud started to fly as he talked about Teresa Heinz Kerry. "Like it or lump it, she's not shy." Then he showed the "four more years of hell" clip.
Immediatly comparing Teresa to Laura Bush, Geraldo showed a clip of Laura's response, referring to the First lady as, "classy Laura". . " It's hard when your husband runs for President. It's hard for me and it's hard for her"
Geraldo asked Fox's favorite question about Teresa Heinz Kerry. Is she an asset or a liability? This question will soon catch up to "flip flop" as a hall of fame favorite. Of course, the republican pundits are paid by Fox to trash Kerry, and they did their job well, especially Monica Crowley.
Geraldo asked this horrible question."Is the country ready for a First Lady with an accent? Maybe it was the late hour, but Monica Crowley really let loose and she sounded like a catty and ignorant sorority sister.
"When she talks about botox and pre nuptial agreements, it's arrogant like she doesn't give a damn.She speaks French, for goodness sakes.When she talks about saving the rainforest, well then she becomes a liability to her husband."
Throughout this panel discussion, the headlines under the clips read "Heinz Kerry is the catshup heiress" or "Teresa told reporter to shove it " or "Edward's daughter wants to be a lawyer"These three headlines were under Laura Bush's clips too which was a totally biased action.
Although Susan Estrich and Eleanor Clift defended her when they were called on, the entire segment was framed to trash Teresa. Geraldo's ridiculous questions, the clips, the headlines all combined to send a very partisan message. Laura Bush is "lovely" and "classy." Teresa Heinz Kerry is too rich, a loose cannon,an enviornmental whacko, and worst of all,she speaks French.
