Sizzling Campaigns

Reported by Nancy - August 7, 2004 -

David Brooks has an interesting op-ed piece in today's (Aug 7) New York Times, Selling the Sizzle, in which he evaluates both GOP & Dem campaigns (so far) ...

... & concludes

People used to complain that selling a president was like selling a bar of soap. But when you buy soap, at least you get the soap. In this campaign you just get two guys telling you that they really value cleanliness.

It should be noted that Brooks is a classic conservative who is also a senior editor at The Weekly Standard (a Murdoch-owned company), a contributing editor at Newsweek & the Atlantic Monthly, & a commentator on "The Newshour with Jim Lehrer" & who previously was op-ed editor at The Wall Street Journal.
