Liberals Are Not Always Liberal on Fox

Reported by Ellen - August 6, 2004 -

It was actually a reasonably fair and balanced discussion of the election and the latest anti-Kerry ad tonight during the 8/5 11pm to midnight hour of Fox News Live with Alan Colmes, with Morgan Fairchild substituting for the vacationing Alan. Democratic political analyst Susan Estrich was the studio guest for the entire hour, along with Democratic and GOP spokespersons over the phone. But anyone who may have hoped Estrich would have turned up the liberal heat a bit for the show and the debate would have been disappointed. On more than one occasion, one had to wonder which side she was on.

During a discussion with Fox political correspondent Carl Cameron on the ad, Estrich commented that she thought bad news was coming for Kerry tomorrow that was more important than the swift boat ad. Confirming with Cameron that the jobs numbers to be released Friday will be good, she said, "So then what does John Kerry do? Does he say they're not good jobs? Not good enough?"

Later, a caller joked that Bush and Cheney give draft dodgers a bad name.

Estrich: Hey, what about Bill Clinton? Come on!
