More Anti-Democrat Propaganda
Reported by Melanie - August 3, 2004 -
Ben Stein continued his travels through Fox News shows today (August 3, 2004) with an appearance on Dayside w/Linda Vester. (See, "Hostile and Sick People," posted August 2, 2004 in my category and in the Cavuto and Fox Financial Shows categories.)
Stein and Vester chatted on the Dayside stage. Naturally, names of Democrats who're making news of late came up: Stein: Howard Dean is "such a whack job." Vester: But he's "campaigning for John Kerry." Stein, "So is Al Sharpton..." Vester talked over Stein and I didn't hear what either of them said, then back to Stein: "so is Teresa...."
About this time, a banner's displayed at the bottom of the screen: "Susan Sarandon is in the 'dangerous' category."
Stein: People should be "incredibly grateful," on their "hands and knees," for living in this country.
An audience member spoke, saying she agreed with Stein's views but was concerned about the anger spewed by conservative radio. Vester, of course had to diffuse that, so she said something like liberal radio does too.
Stein said those who "criticise the country itself" are the real problem, those who say "America is bad." Stein: "We're the good guys," they're "the bad guys." Vester: "And we're generous too." Stein agreed, and listed some of the things we've done as a nation, including: "we've never conquered any territory."
All the audience members then got a copy of Stein's new book, Can America Survive?: The Rage of the Left, the Truth, and What to Do About It.
COMMENT: Stein claims to have written about the left. None of what he said today, or yesterday, applies to anyone on the left I know. He's making things up about what the left stands for and it's far worse than the truth. The drumbeat about the alleged evils of Democrats and liberals just keeps on coming from Fox News.
