Bush Adopts Fox Tactic

Reported by Ellen - August 2, 2004 -

In a tactic revealed by the movie Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism, George W. Bush used the "some say" comment to insinuate a point without providing facts to back it up.

In his remarks today, Bush made this statement in response to a question asking for a response to Kerry's allegation that Bush's policies have actually fueled Al Qaeda recruitment:

"See, evidently SOME MUST THINK (my emphasis) that you can negotiate with them, you can talk sense to them, you can hope that they change. That's not what I know. I know in order to deal with these people we must bring them to justice before they hurt us again. "

Who are these "some?" Kerry never came close to saying that we should negotiate with terrorists nor did Bush say Kerry thought that. It wasn't even an answer to the reporter's question.

Many thanks to Ed Schultz for drawing my attention to this one.
