Republicans Don't Trust Paperless Voting Machines
Reported by Marie Therese - August 1, 2004 -
During an interview with Democratic Congressman Rush Holt of New Jersey on 7/31/04, Holt made the startling announcement that the Republican Party has sent a mailer to its members in Miami-Dade county telling them to use ABSENTEE BALLOTS rather than electronic voting machines!!
Jane Musgrave reports in the Palm Beach Post of July 30, 2004:
After spending months blocking Democratic efforts to equip touch-screen voting machines with printers to produce paper ballots, Gov. Jeb Bush on Thursday found his position at odds with his own party. In a mailing to Republicans in a Miami-Dade County state House district, the Republican Party of Florida urged voters to cast absentee ballots, warning that "electronic voting machines do not have a paper ballot to verify your vote in case of a recount."
COMMENT: Wow! For months I've been telling everyone I meet to do this very same thing. It seems fear of the "paperless ballot" cuts across party lines.
