Just To Set the Record Straight #2
Reported by Nancy - August 1, 2004 -
To add more info to what Melanie posted about Sandy Berger earlier today (see "Just To Set the Record Straight", below), I did a Google News search on "Sandy Berger" & sorted the results by date, confirming how biased our major media really are.
The most recent of 2,760 results -- the first 7 dated 08/01/04 & the next 6 dated 07/31/04 -- were all written at least a day after the Wall Street Journal report. Unsurprisingly, all 13 of these articles from today & yesterday were still blathering on about "the scandal". Murdoch's New York Post has an article today (8/1), " 'Socks Docs' Probers Push On", that references the WSJ report that no original documents are missing, but says that "National Archives spokesperson Susan Cooper ... couldn't be reached and other officials declined to confirm that claim" -- who did they ask, some "officials" at the Denver Mint? Why not name the "officials"? Some of the other articles published today had no problem "reaching" Cooper for an official statement, so why did the Post?
Richard Mellon Scaife's Pittsburgh Tribune-Review also weighed in, of course, & some regional media. But -- curiously, or maybe not -- NONE of the "major" national media except the WSJ have published this info, at least not as indexed by Google News.
Gee, I wonder how long it'll take them to get around to apologizing? Sure is funny how the 24/7 news cycle works at some times, under some circumstances, but not others.
