Teresa and the Media
Reported by Judy - July 27, 2004 -
Fox and Friends today (July 27) returned to the story of Teresa Heinz Kerry's run-in with a reporter, bringing on the poor, mistreated reporter to discuss the incident.
Colin McNickle (8:15 a.m. EDT) said Heinz Kerry's comment that he "shove it" was "unwarranted in my view" because his newspaper's coverage of her has "always been very fair." McNickle also said he was "uncomfortable being part of the story." Oh yeah? So why did you come on television to talk about it the day after it happened? Why not let it drop?
Well, maybe because McNickle's boss at the Pittsburgh Tribune Review is none other than Richard Mellon Scaife, the financer of the "Get the Clintons" propaganda machine of the right wing throughout the 1990s. Scaife was a key funder of the Vincent Foster factory, a Republican effort to show that the former Clinton White House aide was murdered.
As for whether McNickle is fair to Democrats, his blog today says the cool, rainy weather is due to the Democrats' being in town. And he makes a lame joke about Democrats' mistreating the working class because they are attending free cocktail parties rather than going to bars to buy drinks and leave tips.
Gee, with fair coverage like that, I'm surprised Teresa didn't hug McNickle.
