Talk Show Jock on Fox's Premiere Business Show

Reported by Melanie - July 27, 2004 -

Mike Gallagher, Fox employee (here's his bio as it appears on the Fox News website) and talk show host (though not identified as one today) was on Your World w/Neil Cavuto today (July 27, 2004) at 1:15 p.m.

Think about it: You're an average American viewer, you're at home watching a 24-hour cable "news" channel and it's premiere business and financial news program. Mike Gallagher comes on, but you're not told he's a shock jock. You believe you're being given information and facts relevant to the business and financial world, and you settle in to listen to what Mr. Gallagher has to say:

After reminding the audience that Michael Moore and Theresa Heinz Kerry (two of Fox's favorite hate targets) are both in Boston, Cavuto turns to Gallagher to talk about the bias at the Democratic National Convention. (I can't help but comment here by saying that political conventions are always biased. Don't tell me Cavuto will argue for a bipartisan Republican National Convention!)

Gallagher says "the real fun is outside the convention," with "Michael Moore being treated like a rock star," him with his "silly little movie." "This is the contradiction convention."

Cavuto says it does seem Democrats have kept the "extreme Bush bashing in check." Gallagher reminds us that the danger isn't over yet. Ron Reagan, the son of Fox's favorate president, Ronald Reagan, will be speaking tonight and he's "a bit of a wild card."

Cavuto wonders what affect Ron Reagan's speech will have, and Gallagher replies that Reagan's "already an avowed loony liberal. I think it breaks his mother's heart."

COMMENT: Does this sound like a segment that belongs on a 24-hour cable news network's premiere business and financial show? No? Well, this is Fox for ya'.
