Hannity had Newt Gingrich tonight, acting as his right-wing reinforcement.Last night Ann Coulter was expected to fill that role and failed and the same can be said for Newt Gingrich tonight. In the positive atmosphere of this Convention, Gingrich's venomous attacks were out of place and at times repulsive.
While bracing for the power of Howard Dean's speech and after the Michael Moore interview on O'Reilly, Hannity and Gingrich were anxious to gain some ground for the opposition.
Gingrich said it was "The extreme makeover Convention" and Hannity countered with his " Reinvention Convention" tag which he premiered last night. Both men agreed that the convention was an act and the real Democrats are not being seen by the voters.Gingrich spewed," Howard Dean, Jimmy Carter, Teddy Kennedy, liberal fantasyland that John Kerry has created in Boston."
Gingrich looking rather frantic but determined to keep that smile of ridicule intact, attacked Jimmy Carter. "Rather amazing after 444 day Iranian hostage crisis that Jimmy Carter could lecture us on a stronger America."
On Michael Moore, Gingrich lost his smile saying," Gathering of people honoring Michael Moore, a viscious anti-american propogandist. Hannity agreed that the whole convention was "A propaganda campaign." Hannity then pondered ,if we would get to see the "real" Howard Dean tonight.
When Howard Dean appeared, the response was beyong all imagining and went on for over 3 minutes. The audio from Hannity's booth could still be heard and Gingrich was expressing disbelief. The torch is being passed and the Coulters and Gingrichs have lost their power.
