Bashing Contest: And the Winner Is ---

Reported by Eleanor - July 27, 2004 -

In a five minute discussion of Teresa Kerry's "tone" (July 27, 11:38 a.m.), Fox and guests stated and/or quoted a number of personal adjectives describing John Kerry's wife.

A sampling of the adjectives used in relation to Mrs. Kerry: half-cocked; delusional; caustic; sassy, sharp-tongued, kooky, eccentric. Softening the rhetoric with: some say that she is authentic and has an alluring humanism did not erase the impact of the other adjectives describing "Teresa's Tone," nor did the observation about a sense of foreboding about her speech tonight. John Kerry was bashed too, with words like: stiff, aloof, pessimistic, dower, sour, hard to take.

Comment: If the definition of "bashing" is personal name calling rather than sticking to the issues, and if we were having a bashing contest this week, the republicans with the help of Fox is way out front. But I believe the bashing contest is the only thing they're winning.
