Tid-bits of Bush Bias on FOXNews.com
Reported by Ellen - July 23, 2004 -
Surfing around www.FOXNews.com tonight, I found an engaging little page full of pro-Bush propoganda. It's called "Eye on the Issues." It purports to give a comparison of the positions of each of the presidential candidates on a variety of issues. Is it just a coincidence that Bush's "positions" are full of presidential action verbs like "led 2001 war," "vows to protect" and "supports first responders" while Kerry "would devote more resources," "would seek to transfer sovereignty" and "wants to scale back?"
Not only is Ralph Nader included but also Dennis Kucinich and Al Sharpton. Comment: I guess you can't have too many Democratic spoilers showcased on Fox and I'm sure there are millions out there dying to compare Sharpton to Kerry in order to make up their minds who to vote for. So why isn't the Constitution Party (which vows to restore law to its Biblical foundation) candidate there, too? Could it possibly be because that might take away votes for Bush?
Here are a few nuggets:
War on Terror:
Bush: Led 2001 war in Afghanistan to end rule of Taliban regime and Al Qaeda bases. War in Iraq was part of War on Terror. Supported measure which helped cut off money to terrorists.
Kerry: Would seek to transfer sovereignty to the Iraqis as quickly as possible. Supports increasing the number of NATO-led ISAF troops in Afghanistan. Wants to work with Iran to deport senior Al Qaeda leadership in that country. (Gee, I'm surprised they didn't mention anything to associate him with France)
Homeland Security:
Bush: Signed law that created a Department of Homeland Security. Vows to protect our ports, expand border security and support first responders.
Kerry: Would devote more resources to first responders and create a Community Defense Service to provide volunteer manpower in the event of an attack. He would also expand technological innovations to the war on terror
Patriot Act:
Bush: Signed the USA Patriot Act into law. Proposes further changes in law to remove obstacles to investigating and prosecuting terrorism.
Kerry: Wants to scale back several provisions in the USA Patriot Act. Would apply more oversight to "sneak and peek" searches. Would propose requiring a court order for library and business records. (No mention of Kerry's interest in preserving civil liberties)
Iraq:
Bush: Led the war to topple the government of Saddam Hussein. Says the removal of Hussein reduces the threat to the U.S. from terror.
Kerry: Voted for use of force, but criticized Bush's coalition-building and diplomacy. Would seek greater international involvement in Iraq and work to transfer sovereignty to the Iraqis as quickly as possible.
