No honor and dignity in Boston
Reported by Chrish - July 22, 2004 -
Carl Cameron and Shepard Smith fought back grins today July 21 as they discussed what "the Republicans have up their sleeve" for the Democratic National Convention in Boston next week. 3:22 EDT
Carl thinks "it's about time"....things have been "sleepy" since the Edwards announcement.
Apparently Rudy Giuliani and other prominent Republicans, including a number of US Senators, are going to lodge themselves across the street from the convention to be "dispatched at opportune moments, basically to stomp all over Kerry's nominating convention." Carl: "you don't normally see the oppostion party campaigning during one of the conventions, a sure sign R's recognize they can't let up an iota. While all this is playing out the Bush administration is going to lay out its domestic agenda...all in the throes of what was supposed to be the Kerry bounce."
Comment: It's disappointing to see the once grand old party reduced to this kind of tactics, and to see so many who call themselves conservatives and/or Republicans getting fired up by such immature, unstatesmanlike practices. What Carl and Shep look forward to as some fireworks, some fun reporting, is the intentional disruption of an historical proceeding by elected officials of the opposition party. This behavior should be disavowed by the Bush/Cheney campaign and they should call off the plans. Shame on them. (Flashback to the 2000 recount and the "spontaneous" protests, flown in and put up by the Republican party.)
