Fox's Scant Coverage of 9/11 Commission Presser

Reported by Melanie - July 22, 2004 -

Today's (July 22, 2004) Dayside w/Linda Vester began (1:00 p.m. ET) with Vester saying "Dayside is all over the" report by the 9/11 Commission.

Interestingly, a press conference given today by Commission members began at 11:30 a.m. ET and ran until 12:55 p.m. ET. MSNBC and CNN carried it in it's entirety; uninterrupted. I went to Fox News at 11:43 a.m. ET and they were already off. They never went back.

COMMENT: The three cable news networks follow each other like sheep when it comes to covering live events. If one goes to a live event, the others follow. When one of the cable news networks doesn't cover something the other two are covering, it's notable.

Terror and terrorism occupy a significant portion of Fox's air time. Usually it's presented in a fear mongering way, designed to keep us all scared. Here was a press conference talking about solutions. Why did Fox cut away from it so early? Was Fox afraid comments would be made against Bush or his administration? Why did they keep this important conference from their viewers?
