"Are Democrats Putting You In Danger" read the big headline flashed on the lower screen with Fox's signature swoosh noise at 9:35 PM ET during Hannity& Colmes,
7/19/04. This headline was a promo for a segment plugging a new book by Lt. Col. Buzz Patterson, entitled "Reckless Disregard.
Patterson's book accuses Democrats especially Clinton and Kerry of putting us in danger by voting against major weapons, veteran benefits, and military manpower. Hannity and Patterson were having a grand old time accusing Democrats of stripping all our defenses and causing our problems in Iraq until Colmes easily de-fanged Patterson. When reminded that the Republicans voted for all the same cuts, Patterson began stuttering and lost his steam.
Even though Colmes did a fine job at the very end of the interview, Hannity was still able to get his point across, that Democrats are weak on defense. He also got in the last word. " Don't cast your vote in November without reading this book."
