Allawi Gets Tough

Reported by Eleanor - July 19, 2004 -

Fox reported on Fox & Friends (July 19, 7:10 a.m) about a rumor that Allawi shot 7 people before he took office as the leader of Iraq, and according to Fox, that "could be to his advantage." "A macho image of tough guy could help his position. People stay in line." The story is "probably not true, but could be an effective technique." Fox anchors also stated that Sadam kept people in line with that kind of reputation.

Comment: I find this kind of commentary disgusting. I thought we attacked Iraq to get rid of murderous leadership. Is it an "effective technique" to shoot people and rule through fear, rumor or not? I can't believe I heard this from people who get paid to discuss the news. Anyone with an independent thought in their heads will reject this kind of rhetoric.
