NAACP Damage Control
Reported by Eleanor - July 16, 2004 -
Fox & Friends (July 16, 7:18 a.m.) on a segment called "Race and Politics," Armstrong Williams of Talk Radio was interviewed about Bush's refusal to appear at the NAACP conference.
A Fox anchor asked if the NAACP is a civil rights organization or the black wing of the democratic party. Williams said that the NAACP does not reflect its membership, and it needs a "regime change." Fox reiterated that Bush has black cabinet members and asked if the NAACP really likes Kerry or hates Bush that much. Also, Bush plans to appear before the Urban League was emphasized.
Comment: The interview was intended to protect and rationalize the Bush decision not to appear, but a dissenting opinion was nowhere to be found. I guess the fact that Armstrong is black was the "fair and balanced" part.
