An Actual Discussion With A Liberal

Reported by Ellen - July 16, 2004 -

For the first time since I started listening to the Alan Colmes radio program (about six weeks ago), I heard an actual discussion with a liberal. Not a debate, but a discussion. Tonight Colmes hosted columnist Jimmy Breslin alone during the first hour, without an opposing conservative. What a pleasant change this was. Night after night I have heard solo conservative guests. Until tonight, every liberal guest I heard appeared with someone with a counterview, as if the producers were afraid to allow any liberal view go unchallenged (with the notable exception of Ted Rall, who received enough of a tongue-lashing from Colmes to make up for any missing conservative).

My favorite moment: When Breslin told Colmes in no uncertain terms that Fox is not a news channel.
