Truth Police on O'Reilly?

Reported by Deborah - July 14, 2004 -

A very unusual thing happened tonight on The O'Reilly Factor. After a segment spent
discrediting Michael Moore, with two members of the foreign press who had interveiwed Moore earlier today, O'Reilly retracted a statement, claiming that "the truth police just informed me...".( 7/14/04 8:40 PM ET)

Caroline Overington, an Australian journalist, eagerly joined O'Reilly in knocking Moore, although she really could find nothing objectionable in his interview today. A google search revealed Overington as a strong supporter of the Bush Administration
which certainly accounts for some of her acid comments.Overington's main complaint was the lack of hard questions asked of Moore at the conference . O'Reilly
took the cue."
"The movie has been debunked. He can't defend his movie. It's not true. Makes alot of money-not true."

Overington and O'Reilly lament Moore's ungrateful attitude to the country that has given him so much. Both agreed that Moore has a political agenda and of course, the foreign press corp is anti american. Overington knowingly states that Moore's reputation in foreign countries is not good.

O'Reilly, apparently charged up by his supportive guest, claimed that Moore refused to go on Larry King because a representative for the Bush administration would be there, claiming that Moore is afraid to defend his movie.

A few minutes later at 8:49, O'Reilly retracted the statement about Moore refusing to go on Larry King. Actually, the truth was quite different. Seems that Moore accepted the offer with no problem and was just waiting for a confirmation from King's office. "The truth police have just informed me..."

Could this be some backlash from the Outfoxed premiere? Let's hope so.
